Why do children need this type of support?
Childhood today is a drastically changing landscape and children come up against a variety of challenges from an early age. Providing them with this type of support helps to develop their emotional intelligence, understand who they are, how they fit into the world around them and how to face challenges successfully. Developing the 'whole' child has been a common approach of schools, the government and society for some time now and this support helps to do just that.
I don't have any mental health concerns for my child - can the sessions still help them?
These sessions are designed for all children whether they struggle with their emotions, social learning, mental health or not. These areas will always be present in your child's life and therefore providing them with support and opportunities to learn and understand more will benefit any child. Sessions can help them develop empathy for others, understand how to interactive successfully with their peers, learn how to communicate effectively with siblings and strengthen the relationship they have with you.
My child already receives ELSA support. How is this different?
ELSA support is hugely beneficial for many children and some of the learning may overlap however our programmes are focused on building around certain themes. Most ELSA support is 1:1 however, the majority of the work we do is group based as we believe there is a lot to gain from discussing and learning alongside others. If your child already receives ELSA, we will discuss this with you to ensure our programme supports the work already being done.
You don't work at my child's school. Can you still work with my child?
Yes! We provide out-of-school hours 1:1/small group sessions. Please visit the What We Offer page to find out more. If you are interested in us working with your child or at your child's school, please contact us to discuss what we can provide in more detail.
